Art Initiative IL

Art Initiative IL  aims to promote and educate the international Jewish community - and beyond - about contemporary Israeli art, with a focus on purchasing and collecting contemporary Israeli art. This essential support expresses your solidarity with the unique artistic community in Israel and contributes to its growth, bringing optimism and energy.

With Art Initiative IL, Estelle Ohayon (Toronto – Miami) and Vered Gadish (Israel) have joined forces by sharing their extensive knowledge and experience in art consulting, both locally and globally, to offer a bespoke service, managing every aspect of your art acquisition - from production and crating to shipping and installation.

For the first of the series on this incredible initiative, the focus is on two artists – Orit Fuchs and Jennifer Abessira:

Orit Fuchs (b. 1970; lives and works in Jaffa) is an autodidactic artist. Her work was featured in solo exhibitions, including at the Guy Hepner Gallery, New York; L&G Projects, La Jolla, San Diego, California; Maune Gallery, Santa Barbara, California; and Mayson Gallery, New York. Fuchs is a storyteller at heart, with a deep and unquenchable appetite for bringing her vision to life through various mediums such as sculptures, painting, typography, illustration, knitting, Video, photography, and more.

With her former experience as an art director for some of Israel's top agencies, Fuchs has a firm grasp on pop culture and gender roles in contemporary society.

Jennifer Abessira (b. 1984, Paris; immigrated to Israel in 1991; lives and works between Tel Aviv and Paris) holds an MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem, studied for an MA in Interdisciplinary Arts and a BA in General History and French Literature at the Tel Aviv University. Abessira’s work has featured in solo exhibitions and special projects including at the Ariella Public Library, Tel Aviv; Institut Français, Tel Aviv; Artists’ House, Tel Aviv; St. James Market in London; Musée de l’Elysée, Lausanne.
Abessira refers to herself as an “image creator” using her impulsive observation to document, sort, classify what she sees, remembers and experiences, while relating it to her personal and immense visual archive.
